Simple and soft flatbread without yeast is made so quickly. You just need flour, milk, and butter to make a moist and soft flatbread. It can be used in many ways such as wraps for shawarma, kebabs, dipping in butter chicken or curry dishes, or as a pizza crust for your favorite pizza.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (480 g) all purpose flour, Note 1
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 50 g unsalted butter

Instructions

NO YEAST DOUGH:

  • Prepare a pot, pour milk and put the butter in the pot and heat the pot to melt the butter. Or you can melt the butter in the microwave. (Note 2)
  • Mix all the ingredients together. Prepare a large bowl in which you put flour, salt and buttermilk and mix well.
  • Transfer the dough to the work surface. (Note 3) Knead it for about 2 minutes until the surface is smooth. (Note 4)
  • Return the dough to the large bowl. Cover it with a towel or wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.

SMALL ROLLS:

  • Sprinkle a layer of flour on the table before you pour the dough, and stain 2 hands with flour.
  • Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces with a plastic dough scraper. Roll them into balls and then roll them into rounds 2-3 mm thick and 20 cm long.

COOK THE FLATBREAD:

  • Heat the nonstick pan over medium heat without oil. If you're using a regular pan, add a little oil. (Note 5)
  • Place a flatbread in the pan. Fry each side for about 1 minute. If the flatbread puffs up a lot or the bottom side has golden spots, you can flip it to the other side.
  • Place it on a plate and cover it with a towel to keep the surface moist so it doesn't dry out. Continue with the remaining pieces.
  • If the flatbread is too dry or cracked at the edges, you can brush it with butter or olive oil. Don't worry about the flatbread not being round enough, we don't sell it.
  • OTHER FLAVORS: You can melt butter or olive oil and mix it with fresh chopped garlic or parsley and spread it on the flatbread. Or just spread it with butter or olive oil to get different flavors.

Tips & Notes:

  1. If you use bread flour, remember to add 2 more tablespoons of water.
  2. You don't need to boil the milk and butter. The temperature is just enough to melt the butter.
  3. If the dough is too dry, add a little milk. If it's too sticky, add some flour.
  4. The dough doesn't need to be kneaded too much. Otherwise, it'll become too pliable.
  5. When you fry flatbread, preheat the pan first to make sure it has a high temperature so the flatbread doesn't get too dry. This way you don't have to fry the flatbread in the pan for a long time, causing it to lose moisture and dry out.
  6. It can be used in many ways such as wraps for shawarma, kebabs, dipping in butter chicken or curry dishes, or as a pizza crust for your favorite pizza.
