Taro boba milk tea is a very healthy and nutritious drink. The recipe I made is caffeine-free (no tea) with real fresh taro and is best for children and the whole family to drink together. I usually make an extra batch, blend it with a juicer, put it in the freezer, and drink it right away when I need it, which is very convenient. Since it’s very nutritious, it also makes a great breakfast drink. With taro milk tea boba, you just add tapioca pearls when you want to drink it. To learn how to make tapioca pearls, see Black Pearl Bubble Tea.

What is Taro Milk Tea Boba
This drink is sometimes called taro bubble tea and consists of purple ground root, tapioca pearls, milk and jasmine or black tea. However, my version is caffeine-free (without tea). Its taste is sweet and nutty. The taro root, when cooked, tastes similar to a potato, only sweeter, you can say it tastes like a sweet potato!

How To Make Taro Milk Tea With Real Taro.

- Put taro, sugar and water in a pot and bring it to boil. It's enough if the water just covers the taro. You need to stir until the sugar is dissolved. Let it boil for 20 minutes. Take the pot off the stove, cover it and steam it for another 20 minutes. If you want less carbs, you don't need to add sugar. This is because taro itself is a little sweet. If you cook taro with sugar, it'll get a sweet taste that will make it even more delicious.
- Before you put the taro in a bowl, make sure the taro is fully cooked. You can use chopsticks to insert the taro if you can easily cross and pass it, which means the taro is cooked.
- Transfer the taro to a bowl and let it cool.
- Put the taro and milk in the blender.
- You only need to blend 2-3 times on high speed. Because we want the texture and graininess of the taro. So you only press the blender 2-3 times on high to keep the taro grainy. If you beat it too long, it'll be completely mixed with the milk!
- Pour it into glasses. Add ice if you like, then add tapioca pearls or honey or simple sugar syrup if you want more sweetness depending on your taste.
